Questions About Our Garden Tours?
Everything you need to know about exploring Ireland's heritage estates at your own pace
We design all our tours around comfort and accessibility. Powerscourt has paved Italian terraces and resting areas throughout, while Mount Usher offers riverside paths with benches every 100-150 metres. We can arrange shorter, modified routes if you need them—just let us know when you book.
Our tours are leisurely by design—we're not rushing anywhere. Most tours run 2.5 to 3.5 hours depending on the estate, with plenty of stops to sit, chat, and take in the gardens. We move at a comfortable walking pace suitable for active retirees, typically covering about 2 kilometres.
We run tours spring through autumn—roughly April to October—when the gardens are at their most vibrant and the weather's most reliable. Each season brings something different: spring bulbs at Powerscourt, summer woodland canopy at Mount Usher, and autumn colours throughout Wicklow and Tipperary estates.
Absolutely. We arrange private group tours for any size—whether it's 4 people or 20. Private tours let you set your own pace and spend more time on the gardens you're most interested in. Contact us to discuss dates, group size, and any special interests.
Wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the weather—Irish estates can be windy and changeable. We recommend layers. Bring a camera if you'd like, a hat for sun protection, and a light jacket. Most gardens have shelter areas, but it's good to be prepared for all conditions.
Admission fees vary by estate and are typically separate from our guide fee. We'll give you full pricing details when you book, and our guides can often arrange group entry rates at places like Powerscourt and Birr Castle, which saves money.
